You Could Be Arrested if You Missed Court in New Jersey
Transcript
Having been charged with an offense and not showing up in court can wind up being a real problem, unfortunately, for you. I will assume that if you did not go to court, that the judge has issued a bench warrant for you. So basically what that means is if you are pulled over or if you are stopped and the police run your name, you'll be arrested on the spot, brought down to the police station, and a bail will be set on you. Again, it will depend on whether or not you can make that bail in order to be released, or if you will be spending the night in jail. It's important that if you realize you've missed a court date to hire an attorney who has experience dealing with those prosecutors, as well as the judges in those courts, in order to ensure that you don't spend any time in jail.
