In New Jersey, we have two grading categories for possession of marijuana. We have a less than 50 grams of marijuana, which is a disorderly persons offense, and we have a greater than 50 grams of marijuana, which is an indictable offense. Greater than 50 grams of marijuana is graded as a fourth-degree offense, which is punishable by up to 18 months in state prison along with a loss of license and heavy monetary fines.
