Getting in Trouble for Taking Money From a Found Wallet
Transcript
If you found a person's wallet on the ground and that wallet had somebody's identifying information in it, like a driver's license or registration card or something, and along with all that they had money, if you take the money that's in that wallet, you would or could be found guilty of a theft of a mislaid or a lost piece of property. Again, depending on the value of what's taken, it can range anywhere from probation through incarceration. So if you've been charged with an offense like this, it would be beneficial to hire an attorney who is experienced in dealing with these types of crimes, as well as dealing with the office where it's being presented.
