I Was Charged with Less then 50 Grams of Marijuana in NJ, What will Happen?
Transcript
Many of the inquiries that I receive from people, uh, are those that have been charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. In New Jersey, that is a disorderly persons offense, which is punishable by up to a maximum of 6 months in the county jail. Along with that goes fines that range in the neighborhood of about $850. But it's also important to note that if you are a first-time offender, you may be eligible for a program called a conditional discharge. And part of that conditional discharge means that if you complete that period of probation, you have no new arrests, and you stay drug-free, that that disorderly persons offense charge will be dismissed at the end of that year of probation.
